Your Equation For Better Brain Power? < = >

How many times have you seen internet pop-up ads telling you the “brain games” you need to spend your time doing, to boost your brain power?

You get the feeling that if you just did more, you could improve your cognitive functions. But this research reveals that the equation for doing this is not to add X, Y number of times, and keep doing that until Z happens. The right equation is actually this:

< = > … Less is more.

The data show that taking breaks throughout your workday can amplify your creative ability. A good way to think about it is that you should add “white space” to your day, with no assignments, or to-dos. This should be a time of not-doing.

As a mental pause in your day, White Space gives your brain a breather. This time turns out to be fertile for creativity, as your mind can meander a bit, where it can pause, make connections you may not have anticipated, and do so without interruption or agenda.
