Try This To Get More Energy In Your Day

Why are you so tired all the time? Well #4 on this WebMD list of reasons why is anemia, which happens when you run low on iron. Your red blood cells need iron in order to carry oxygen to your body for energy.

Low iron –> low oxygen. Low oxygen –> low energy.

So take your own pulse on this. Do you experience fatigue, lightheadedness, confusion (more than normal, lol), pale skin, weakness, or dizziness? If so you may not need an extra cup of coffee, you may just need more iron in your life. Either way, you still have to let you doctor know because these symptoms could be something else as well.

How Do I Get More Iron?

overhead picture of red sauce in an iron skilletLet’s start with the simple stuff. Cook your food in an iron skillet. Yes, seriously.

If you cook moist, acidic foods like chili or a pasta sauce in cast iron cookware, only one single cup of it can boost your iron levels by between 6 – 8 milligrams. The recommended amount you need in a day is only between 8 – 18 mg depending on your age and gender, which is a massive boost just for using this kind of skillet!

Iron skillets are cheap, they last forever, and give off iron that your red blood cells are literally starving for!

Of course, this isn’t a magic bullet and you still need to eat a balance of real foods that leans on grains and veg, but if you can get a little boost in your day just by using an iron skillet, why would you not??
