Working From Home Healthfully

In this time of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve had to completely alter our daily routines. Many of us work from home, but also care for children and other family members who are there with us.

Tired man being overloaded at workWith these added pressures, managing stress becomes even more critical for maintaining our health. But doing this doesn’t have to be difficult or take a lot of your time.

Please review these tips regarding working from home to help you manage make it through this challenging time.

 

  • Create schedules. This is especially important if you have children at home. Setting times for nap, lunch, or schoolwork helps orient them to their day, allowing you to get some work done if you need to.
  • Create a work desk for yourself. This should not be in the kitchen or a high traffic family area. This should be some place that you can close off from others while you are working.
  • Keep your daily routines. Have your morning coffee and breakfast just as you did before. Let your family know that you will be at your desk for “X” hours and available after that is over. This structure manages their expectations and allows you to bridge work and home life.
