We CAN avoid a diabetes disaster by 2020

I don’t believe it.

The report says that “Half of Americans facing diabetes by 2020.” I refuse to accept this. I do not believe we must surrender to the incoming wave of obesity, diabetes, and the parade of health problems that follow them.

Yes, diabetes is epidemic and is one of the fastest-growing diseases in the United States, currently affecting about 26 million Americans. And yes, another 67 million are estimated to have prediabetes, and 90% of those are unaware that they even have the condition.
But NO, this is not inevitable. This problem is not genetic, but preventable with basic, basic, basic (did I say basic?) lifestyle changes. Easy stuff … once you know what to do.
Thus, this is about sound education. This is about returning to some common sense strategies like, I don’t know, EAT FOOD, return to the family table, and don’t eat SO much food that you make it bad for you.
We are in a race between education and catastrophe. This truism has never been more pertinent than today. We can educate. We can avoid catastrophe.
