How Much Can I Have
Practically all of the stuff that makes chocolate GREAT for you is found in the cocoa itself. So, if you want more chocolate, all you have to do is increase the percentage of cocoa found in that chocolate.
For your weight control efforts, high-cocoa chocolate also means low-sugar chocolate. The satiety producing effect of high-cocoa chocolate’s protein, cocoa butter, and fiber is boosted by the fact that this luscious bit of heaven is lower in sugar!
- 100% cocoa powder1 cup used mostly in cooking
- 100% bar1.5 ounces = 12 thumb-bite pieces
- 85% bar1.25 ounces = 10 thumb-bite pieces
- 70% bar1 ounce = 8 thumb-bite pieces
- 60% bar0.5 ounces = 6 thumb-bite pieces
- 50% bar0.25 ounces = 4 thumb-bite pieces
- less than 50% barnothing, nada, zilch, zero = 2 thumb-bite pieces
When You Will Consume Your Chocolates
You will not eat all the chocolates at once, but will combine them through your day, mostly in association with your meals. IF your Daily Chocolate is higher in cocoa, your total amount will be higher. If your Daily Chocolate is lower in cocoa, you cannot go over that allowable amount.
Here is an example of the ways you can divvy up your total allowable amount of chocolates, by using them in these Chocolate Eating Lessons.
- Starter= 1-2 thumb-bites
- Ender= 1-2 thumb-bites
- Sweet Tooth Test= 3 thumb-bites
- Exercise= 2-4 thumb-bites

How much is one bite?
- • This is your rule of thumb: one bite is equal to the size of the end joint of your thumb.
- • Most people will look at the size of the end joint of their thumb and think, “that is too small to be one bite!!” The reason they do this is because our disordered culture of health coaches you from day one to eat big and eat fast. We can’t change the culture, but we don’t have to give into it either!
- • For one bite, use the Rule of Thumb.
When you taste your chocolate:
- • The longer you make it last, the better it is for you.
- • Even though chocolate is going to help you solve weight and health issues, do NOT treat it like a pill that you chew and swallow.
- • With each Chocolate Challenge, make your thumb-bite piece last as long as you can. Don’t chew it, let it work, slowly, lovingly, as it liberates its flavors onto your grateful taste buds!
