Each year more people die of lung cancer than

colon,

breast, and

prostate cancers combined.

One reason for this is that symptoms do not appear until it has already spread to the liver, brain, and bone. By that time it can metastasize and be at a very late stage. So, just because you feel fine doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get screened.

Obviously, you should not smoke yourself, but also avoid being around those who do. If you’re at least 55 years old and you are (or were) a long-term smoker, it’s advised to get screened with your physician.

But wait, there’s more.

People can get lung cancer who have never smoked a day in their lives. And remember, if it’s in there brewing away over time, you wouldn’t feel any symptoms anyway.
