{"id":371,"date":"2008-11-24T13:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-24T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.willclower.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/24\/golden-roast-turkey\/"},"modified":"2017-02-02T12:32:25","modified_gmt":"2017-02-02T17:32:25","slug":"golden-roast-turkey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mymedwellness.com\/blog\/?p=371","title":{"rendered":"Golden Roast Turkey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>You\u2019ll Need:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>16 pound turkey<\/li>\n<li>1 cup butter<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc teaspoon pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Remove giblets and neck from turkey: wash and set aside<\/p>\n<p>Wash turkey thoroughly inside and out.<\/p>\n<p>Pat dry with towels.<\/p>\n<p>Remove any excess fat.<\/p>\n<p>Prepare your choice of dressing.<\/p>\n<p>Preheat oven to 325 F<\/p>\n<p>Spoon some of dressing into neck cavity of turkey.<\/p>\n<p>Bring skin of neck over back; fasten with poultry pin.<\/p>\n<p>Spoon remaining dressing into body cavity; do not pack.<\/p>\n<p>Insert 4 or 5 poultry pins at regular intervals.<\/p>\n<p>Lace cavity closed with twine, bootlace fashion and then tie.<\/p>\n<p>Bend wing tips under body, or fasten to body with poultry pins.<\/p>\n<p>Tie end of legs together.<\/p>\n<p>Insert meat thermometer in inside of thigh at thickest part.<\/p>\n<p>Place turkey on rack in shallow roasting pan.<\/p>\n<p>Brush with some butter; sprinkle with salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<p>Roast uncovered and brushing occasionally with remaining butter and pan drippings: about 4 hours or until meat thermometer registers to 185 F.
