It is very rich and should be served in small portions.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><strong>You&#8217;ll Need:<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>4 \u00bd cups whipping cream<\/li>\n<li>4 \u00bd cups whole milk<\/li>\n<li>18 large egg yolks<\/li>\n<li>1 \u00bd cups sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 \u00bc teaspoons ground nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>1 cup (about) bourbon (optional)<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup (about) dark rum (optional)<\/li>\n<li>Additional ground nutmeg for garnish<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bring cream and whole milk to simmer in large pot.<\/p>\n<p>Whisk yolks and sugar in large bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Gradually whisk in half of hot cream mixture.<\/p>\n<p>Return mixture to pot.<\/p>\n<p>Stir over medium-low heat until custard thickens and leaves path on back of spoon when finger is drawn across, about 5 minutes (do not boil).<\/p>\n<p>Strain into bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Stir in 2 \u00bc teaspoons nutmeg.<\/p>\n<p>Cool slightly.<\/p>\n<p>Chill. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Keep chilled.)<\/p>\n<p>Mix in bourbon and rum to taste.
