It was our lunch yesterday at a wonderful local restaurant. I had pumpkin, callaloo (their version of spinach), and a goat curry. It was brilliant, included a Carib beer, and cost me a whopping 10$.<\/p>\n<p>Always eat where the locals eat!!<\/p>\n<p>This is what southern cuisine used to be, before it became all about deep frying everything from chicken to Snickers to Oreos. Southern food used to include things like collards, squash, homemade breads. But how many do you think would even know what the food in this pic even is, today? <\/p>\n<p>Do you wonder why people in the southeastern US &#8212; where I grew up &#8212; have such a problem with their weight and health?
