{"id":220,"date":"2015-06-12T16:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-06-12T16:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.willclower.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/12\/basil-pesto-sauce\/"},"modified":"2017-01-24T11:51:06","modified_gmt":"2017-01-24T16:51:06","slug":"basil-pesto-sauce-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mymedwellness.com\/blog\/?p=220","title":{"rendered":"Basil Pesto Sauce"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><em>It&#8217;s men&#8217;s health month and making herbs a regular part of the diet is a super\u00a0idea as\u00a0many are a great source of antioxidants.<\/em><\/div>\n<p><strong>Yields approximately 1 \u00bd cups<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019ll Need<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup packed basil leaves<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup toasted walnuts<\/li>\n<li>1 garlic clove<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup Parmesan Cheese<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup olive oil<\/li>\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>Pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mix all in a blender or food processor until an even consistency is reached.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tips<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You can add more garlic if you would like. You may want to mix it, have a taste and then decide.<\/li>\n<li>This pesto freezes wonderfully. Place the pesto in ice cube trays and once the pesto has solidified place the blocks in a plastic bag and use it in the future. The ice cube technique it nice because it freezes the pesto in handy portion sizes.<\/li>\n<li>The recipe can easily be doubled.<\/li>\n<li>You can try different nuts such as pine nuts or macadamias.<\/li>\n<li>You can try different herbs such as cilantro or parsley.<\/li>\n<li>Serve over top of pastas, grilled vegetables, and fish. Or turn a piece of French or Pita bread into a pesto pizza.
