If we deplete our fisheries we deplete our food supplies. This is not just a theoretical problem &#8230; we must develop practical, sustainable models that ensure 1) food safety, and 2) food availability.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; position: static;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b><br \/><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; position: static;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>According to this article<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; position: static;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The continued depletion of global stocks threatens world food security, he added. &#8220;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><i style=\"outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; position: static;\">That there has been no improvement in the status of stocks is a matter of great concern. The percentage of overexploitation needs to go down although at least we seem to be reaching a plateau<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; position: static;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The percentage of overexploited, depleted or recovering fish stocks in the world&#8217;s oceans is estimated to be slightly higher than in 2006.
