They also interviewed them about their diets and lifestyle habits, and measured their blood levels of vitamin C.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"line-height: 1.6; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>What They Found<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 1.6; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Overall, nearly 73 percent of the study participants were found to have cataracts. But that risk dipped as vitamin C blood levels and vitamin C intake rose.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"line-height: 1.6; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>The Bottom Line<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: 1.6; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">In the roughly one-quarter of older adults with the highest vitamin C levels, <i><b>the risk of cataract was 39 percent lower than in people with the lowest levels of the nutrient<\/b><\/i>.
