Whew!&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Because if the melting ice caps that aren&#8217;t really melting, and the receding mountain ice packs that aren&#8217;t really receding, and the increasing average temperatures that aren&#8217;t really increasing &#8230; were really real &#8230; can you imagine how hot it WOULD be then? &nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Even as it is, under the fake warming conditions, this summer&#8217;s turning out to be dangerously hot. And the outcome for you is that your INTERNAL temperature can ramp up, which essentially bakes your organs.&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: arial; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">I don&#8217;t eat internal organs &#8230; eww. Just can&#8217;t do it. Baked, fried, stewed, whatever. Gross.&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">In any case, a<span style=\"line-height: 19px;\">&nbsp;normal body temperature is around 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, but heatstroke can turn your body temp up to 106 degrees Fahrenheit or higher &#8230; in just 10 to 15 minutes. That&#8217;s like spiking a massive, time-to-go-to-the-hospital fever, just by stepping outside.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\"><b>So what happens when you bake your brain and other organs?&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\">Well there is that whole death or permanent disability thing (if not treated immediately).&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: arial; line-height: 19px;\">&#8220;<i>When you have the kind of heat wave that we&#8217;re having now, we start to get worried<\/i>,&#8221; said Dr. Janyce Sanford, chair of emergency medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: arial; line-height: 19px;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 19px;\"><b>They worry because of the data<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 19px;\">Between 1999 and 2003, there were 3,442 reported deaths resulting from exposure to extreme heat, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. During that time (as you might expect) Arizona had the highest number of deaths related to baked organs, followed by Nevada and Missouri.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Old people, young people, and sick people are obviously at highest risk of heatstroke.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thechart.blogs.cnn.com\/2011\/07\/12\/heat-hurts-your-insides-too\/\" style=\"border-bottom-width: 0px; border-color: initial; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-top-width: 0px; color: #004276; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\">Heat hurts your insides too<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;\"><b>FYI: There are a few different forms of heat-related illnesses.&nbsp;<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;\"><u><b>Heat cramps<\/b><\/u> are usually considered mild, and can be treated with liquids and going into a cool environment.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;\"><u><b>Heat Exhaustion<\/b><\/u> is more severe, and involves elevation of body temperature, headaches, nausea and vomiting.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px; line-height: 19px;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\">And then there is <u><b>heatstroke<\/b><\/u>, which is the most life-threatening. Heatstroke resembles heat exhaustion but may additionally involve neurological symptoms such as confusion and dizziness, or even coma. The body can no longer sweat, and internal temperature skyrockets.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Bottom line? Don&#8217;t bake your own organs.
