I read this article in CNN Health and had to share what is a truly bizarre practice.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">This is so weird: mothers take <\/span><i style=\"line-height: 18px;\"><b>a burning hot pestle<\/b><\/i> straight out of a fire and use it to press the breasts of their young girls.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>Why, you ask? What are you, crazy, you scream?<\/b>&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Mothers do this to their daughters to make their little girls less desirable to boys &#8212; as a route to prevent pregnancy. Riiight, it&#8217;s the old&nbsp;disfigurement strategy!! Genius, right? With just a little mutilation, if you make them horrid enough, then you can prevent SO many unwanted pregnancies.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Plus, that way you don&#8217;t have to talk to them about being responsible, you don&#8217;t have to teach the boys about being respectful to women. Whew!! Glad we didn&#8217;t have to go through THAT.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 1em; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">The US State Department, in its&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.state.gov\/g\/drl\/rls\/hrrpt\/\" style=\"border-bottom-width: 0px; border-color: initial; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-top-width: 0px; color: #004276; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; outline-color: initial; outline-style: none; outline-width: initial; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;\" target=\"new\">2010 human rights report<\/a><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">&nbsp;on Cameroon, cited news reports and said breast ironing&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">affects an amazing one<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\">&nbsp;in every four girls in Cameroon.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">But Wouldn&#8217;t This Work For Boys Too?<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Rather than making the girls less attractive so those poor boys just can&#8217;t help themselves, why not just make the boys &#8230; blind? Hey, problem solved?<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"line-height: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Or, or, or, you could make them lame so the girls could outrun them &#8230; or maybe we just apply testicle ironing to prevent those boys from having the desire in the first place.
