Normally I\u2019d just get chocolates for my wife, knowing that they\u2019re a decadent, not-so-good-for-you treat.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">But lately I\u2019ve heard that there\u2019s good chocolate and bad chocolate. &nbsp;Now I feel like I could actually making wrong choice!<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Dear Confused, <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">As the bearer of good news, I just want to let you know that chocolate is a righteous health food. In fact, it\u2019s one of the healthiest foods you could possibly eat:&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">for your heart&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">for your emotional state&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">for your metabolism&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">for insulin control for diabetics&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">for your blood pressure&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">and even for your skin health!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>  <\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">But you\u2019re absolutely correct that not everything with \u201cChocolate\u201d slapped on the label is good for you. The part of the chocolate that is the most highly packed with health properties comes from the cocoa itself. So if the chocolate you\u2019re choosing this Valentine\u2019s Day is a high cocoa chocolate, then it\u2019s a healthy chocolate. In other words, they use chocolate as nothing more than a vehicle for sugar. &nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">If you want your Valentine&#8217;s Day gift of chocolate to be healthy, it needs to be a vehicle for cocoa. Plus, as the cocoa percentage increases from 50% to 60% to 70% etc., the sugar content drops.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">In other words, you\u2019re getting more of the good stuff (cocoa) and less of the bad stuff (sugar). Dark. Chocolate. Skip the goop, and nougat and wafer and filling and caramel because those are all unhealthy. There are many good brands out there (Green &amp; Blacks is one I&#8217;m fond of), but you&#8217;re going to be safe if you keep these rules in mind.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">So when you\u2019re buying a gift for your sweetie, now you know the difference between chocolate and \u201cchocolate\u201d.
