Actually, mom has given up the old ways of cooking with sweetened condensed milk, and adopted this recipe. Important: <i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">The Fat Fallacy <\/i>diet<!-- [if supportFields]><span style='mso-element:field-begin'><\/span> XE \"Diets\" <![endif]--><!-- [if supportFields]><span style='mso-element: field-end'><\/span><![endif]--><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>considers pumpkin pie<!-- [if supportFields]><span style='mso-element:field-begin'><\/span> XE \"Desserts: Pumpkin pie\" <![endif]--><!-- [if supportFields]><span style='mso-element:field-end'><\/span><![endif]--><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>to be an important part of a balanced breakfast<!-- [if supportFields]><span style='mso-element:field-begin'><\/span> XE \"Breakfast\" <![endif]--><!-- [if supportFields]><span style='mso-element:field-end'><\/span><![endif]-->.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">You\u2019ll Need <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">1 large can pumpkin (not pumpkin \u201cmix\u201d) <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Whole milk<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">1 cup sugar <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">3 eggs <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">1 heaping tsp ground cinnamon <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">1 level tsp salt <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00bd tsp ground ginger <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u00bd tsp ground cloves <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Directions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Pour the can of pumpkin into a very large bowl.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Fill that can with whole milk, pour it into the bowl, and mix until smooth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Add the sugar and eggs. Mix well.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Take 1 cup of the mixture you just made and add cinnamon, salt, ginger, and cloves.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Be sure to mix it around to get out any clumps of spices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">When it\u2019s smooth, add it back to the main bowl.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Preparing the pie:<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Form the pie crust to the bottom of a pie pan, preferably one made of clay.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Pour the mix into the crust.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Bake at 425 for 10 minutes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Reduce to 350 for 45 minutes to an hour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">You know it\u2019s done when you get your hot pads and jiggle it a little.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The center will look like just-firm Jell-O.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong>Eating instructions<\/strong> <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">You have to let it cool a bit for it to firm up (about 2 hours).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">If you\u2019re in a hurry, put it in the refrigerator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 32px;\">When you can\u2019t stand it any more, here\u2019s what <\/span><span style=\"line-height: 32px;\"><i style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal;\">not to do<\/i><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 32px;\">. Do not mar it with a fake whipped cream.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"line-height: 32px;\">Because we all know that pumpkin pie<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 32px;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"line-height: 32px;\">screams for whipped cream, I\u2019ll give you the recipe.
