{"id":15753,"date":"2026-08-31T12:00:48","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T16:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mymedwellness.com\/blog\/?p=15753"},"modified":"2026-08-20T17:10:31","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T21:10:31","slug":"clam-chowder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mymedwellness.com\/blog\/?p=15753","title":{"rendered":"Clam Chowder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>This is an easy recipe for a basic clam chowder and tastes delicious just as is but feel free to experiment and add your own twist.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019ll Need<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 slices bacon<\/li>\n<li>2 \u00bd tablespoons butter<\/li>\n<li>1 medium onion, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup flour<\/li>\n<li>4 cups milk<\/li>\n<li>3 small russet potatoes, chopped into small pieces<\/li>\n<li>13 ounces minced clams, reserve juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a large pot, cook bacon over medium-low heat, saut\u00e9 bacon until crisp and golden brown.<\/li>\n<li>Remove bacon with a slotted spoon; leave bacon grease in pot.<\/li>\n<li>Once bacon is cooled finely chop bacon.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce heat to low and add butter to pot that contains the bacon grease and stir until melted.<\/li>\n<li>Add onions and cook until they are translucent and soft (the longer the onions go the more flavor will be created, approximately 15 minutes)<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Add flour, salt, and pepper, stirring constantly until well blended.<\/li>\n<li>Raise heat to medium and then slowly add the milk, stirring constantly until sauce comes to a boil and thickens.<\/li>\n<li>Lower heat and add the potatoes until cooked through to a consistency you like (at least 10 minutes).<\/li>\n<li>Next add clam juice, clams, and bacon pieces heat through.<\/li>\n<li>Adjust salt and pepper as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Play with Your Food<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve topped with chopped chives or parsley<\/li>\n<li>Add some cooked corn<\/li>\n<li>Use a different type of potato<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is an easy recipe for a basic clam chowder and tastes delicious just as is but feel free to experiment and add your own twist.
