This can leave confusion for us whether it\u2019s \u201cactually\u201d a good choice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Coconut oil has been around long enough that the early research results are in, and the early evidence is encouraging!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Coconut oil\u2019s high content of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), are rapidly absorbed and converted to energy, potentially providing a quick source of fuel for the body and brain.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">It also contains lauric acid, which makes up about 50% of those MCTs, and contributes to its anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and anti-fungal properties. This may help support immune function, and other studies suggest that it helps increase our HDL (good) cholesterol levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In the kitchen, coconut oil&#8217;s high smoke point makes it perfect for recipes requiring hotter temperatures. The higher smoke point means the oils will not denature, which can be unhealthy for your heart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Topically, coconut oil may benefit skin and hair health.
