{"id":11325,"date":"2022-06-13T12:01:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-13T16:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mymedwellness.com\/blog\/?p=11325"},"modified":"2022-06-12T18:27:33","modified_gmt":"2022-06-12T22:27:33","slug":"mindful-monday-find-the-good","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mymedwellness.com\/blog\/?p=11325","title":{"rendered":"Mindful Monday: Find The Good"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><img data-opt-id=1426566771  fetchpriority=\"high\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-816 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/mlcmmqmgggev.i.optimole.com\/w:225\/h:300\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mymedwellness.com\/Medwell_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Wapoa-Olives-in-Brine-225x300.jpg?resize=225%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Olives in 3 buckets all in their brine\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/>Here&#8217;s the message for our Mindful Monday: Find the Good.<\/p>\n<p>Here at our home in NZ, we did the olive harvest about a month ago, stripping the canes, shaking the branches so that it was literally raining olives, so everything fell into the wide skirt on the ground, which was then dumped into buckets, hauled to the truck, then poured out at the olive press.<\/p>\n<p>But the olives in this pic were extra, picked from a separate trip out. I mean, the trees are in our back yard so that part was easy, although the process for brining and prepping is actually not.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>you pick them<\/li>\n<li>you wash them<\/li>\n<li>let them soak in fresh water for 3 days<\/li>\n<li>strain\/rinse them again<\/li>\n<li>create the brine (10:1 concentration)<\/li>\n<li>(get the new buckets from our NZ version of Home Depot)<\/li>\n<li>sort the olives by type<\/li>\n<li>pour the brine into each bucket, cover, leave for a week<\/li>\n<li>drain, rinse, throw in some more brine<\/li>\n<li>Do this for 4 weeks, or until the olives are tender without tasting overly bitter.<\/li>\n<li>only THEN do you add the flavorings in some oil (rosemary, chilly, thyme, etc), and let it all think about itself for another couple of weeks or so.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img data-opt-id=737118955  fetchpriority=\"high\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-818 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/mlcmmqmgggev.i.optimole.com\/w:225\/h:300\/q:mauto\/f:best\/https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mymedwellness.com\/Medwell_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Will-post-harvest-225x300.jpeg?resize=225%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Will Clower in a pickup with the olive harvest collected\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a whole thing, and you could totally choose to see this process (getting the olives in shape to be eaten) as a complete PITA &#8212; especially when you could just run to the store and pick up a jar.<\/p>\n<p>But a big part of mindfulness is about you, and what you choose to focus on.
