It&#8217;s a nice way to incorporate an in season fruit into the holidays .You may want to give it a try with apples too. <\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-weight: bold; margin: 0px;\">\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>You&#8217;ll Need<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">6 medium (6 to 7 ounce) ripe but firm Bosc pears, peeled, halved lengthwise<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">6 Tablespoons (3\/4 stick) unsalted butter<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">\u00bc cup (packed) golden brown sugar<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">1\/8 teaspoon salt<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">2 Tablespoons Scotch<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">\u00bd teaspoon vanilla extract<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\"><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Preheat oven to 350 F.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Using melon baller or small spoon, scoop out core from each pear half.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Melt butter in large ovenproof skillet over medium heat.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Whisk in brown sugar and salt.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Arrange pears, cut side down, in skillet in single layer.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Spoon some of sugar mixture over pears.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Place skillet in oven; bake until pears are tender, basting once with syrup, about 30 minutes.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Transfer pears, cut side up, to large shallow bowl, leaving syrup in skillet.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Mix Scotch and vanilla extract into syrup.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Using oven mitts as aid, place hot skillet over medium-high heat (mixture may ignite).<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Cook until syrup is reduced by half, whisking often, about 2 minutes.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\">Spoon syrup over pears and serve.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"margin: 0px;\"><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Give this fabulous dessert a try.
