Always have. I&#8217;ve been going to bed at 9pm since high school &#8212; yeah, I&#8217;m just super fun like that.<\/p>\n<p>But now that I&#8217;m ancient, like everyone else in Le Club Prehistoric my brain has (partially) closed the window of my REM sleep.<\/p>\n<p>These cycles just don&#8217;t last as many minutes any more, and even when they do let me sleep, perchance to dream, those same REM cycles don&#8217;t dip as deep.<\/p>\n<p>So I LOVED seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medscape.com\/viewarticle\/970082\">this article<\/a> on a simple trick to increase your sleep. It&#8217;s exercise, but a specific KIND of exercise. And in case you&#8217;re not planning to comb through this research paper in all your spare time, here&#8217;s the bottom line results that they found.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For Aerobic Exercisers who had 60 minutes of aerobic exercise per day.\n<ul>\n<li>sleep duration increased by 23 minutes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>For those who combined Aerobic + Resistance exercises for a combined 60 minutes per day.\n<ul>\n<li>sleep duration increased by 17 minutes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>BUT &#8230; just doing straight resistance exercisers for 60 minutes per day.\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>sleep duration increased by 40 minutes<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I mean, I&#8217;m not planning to go full on Arnold Schwarzenegger, just to add resistance exercises to my life.<\/p>\n<p>For employees, how easy is it to encourage them to add this kind of activity &#8230; so they can sleep better &#8230; so they can think better and be less stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Viva la Resistance!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I love my sleep.
